James Milner retires from football after 24 Years

Milner was born in Leeds, England, on January 4, 1986. He began his professional career with Leeds United in 2002 at just 16 years old. During that time, he made history as one of the youngest goal scorer in Premier League history. He later joined Newcastle United and spent a loan spell at Swindon Town before moving to Aston Villa.
In 2010, Milner signed for Manchester City, where he won two Premier League titles in 2012 and 2014, the FA Cup in 2011, and two League Cups. In 2015, he joined Liverpool FC, where he achieved even greater success. With Liverpool, he won the UEFA Champions League in 2019 in Madrid and lifted the Premier League trophy in 2020, ending the club’s 30-year wait for a league title. He also helped Liverpool win the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 2019.

In 2023, Milner moved to Brighton & Hove Albion, where he continued playing until the age of 40. In February 2026, he surpassed the record previously held by Gareth Barry to become the player with the most Premier League appearances, reaching 654 matches before extending the record to 658. He also received three Guinness World Records awards, including recognition for playing the most consecutive seasons in English football, with 24.
At the international level, Milner represented England national football team 61 times between 2009 and 2016. During that period, he participated in two FIFA World Cups and two UEFA European Championships.
